John Boyega in Burberry

John loved to play, he loved to laugh.  In this spirit, he was smiling mischievously, which contrasted with the urgency of his pace.  Being lifted out of virtual obscurity to the role of Finn in Disney’s The Force Awakens had been a blessing and a curse.  A blessing, because it afforded him opportunities such as this moment, running wild and free in his form-fitted Burberry trench.  A curse because he felt he could never stop.  He’d often turn his head to look back and smile; the fit of the coat giving him a moments respite from his anxiety.  He thought by forcing himself to smile, happiness would follow; as if his shoddy veneer could permeate his core.  He was always wrong.  The playful smile that he exhibited running in that park always belied a deeply rooted fear – that it would never end.  What came after Finn?  What comes when the Burberry trench no longer hugs the form of his torso so neatly?  He thought if he always stayed in forward motion then time would always be just a few steps behind him.  As he galloped towards the woods, he began to realize that you cannot outrun a universality.  Time comes for us all, regardless of our stature in the Star Wars universe.
